How To Measure Your Windows For Replacement

by | Jul 23, 2021 | Windows

Accurate measurements are essential for any Denver replacement windows installation project – here is how to make sure that you get the size of your windows right:

  • Verify the angles first – the opening into which the new window will be installed needs to have 90° angles in all four corners – if just one of the angles is not right, the window will not open and close properly;
  • Measure the width of the window in more than one point– measure the width of the window at the top, in the middle and at the bottom. If the angles are right, pay attention to making the measurements holding your tape perfectly horizontal. If you need to correct the angles, take the existing window frame as reference and calculate the horizontal position for your tape relative to the top and the bottom of the frame;
  • Measure the height of the window – the height should also be measured in three points, paying attention to accuracy the same way as in the case of the width;
  • Measure the window diagonally – diagonal measurements are important for checking the correctness of the other measurements.

If you still have doubts about the correctness of your measurements, turn to a window installation company – the best and safest way is to get your window implemented by experts, so you will need a contractor anyway.
