|
Replacing gives all the benefits of the newest window frame and
glass technologies; repairing a window is only a stopgap to eventual
replacement.

How do I know if a window is energy efficient? |
|
The most typical way is to check its "R" or thermal resistance
rating (the higher the better), or it's "U" rating, which is the rate of
heat flow through a glazing system (the lower the better).
A more universal barometer of efficiency is the "Energy Star" rating:
guidelines for energy efficiency in all climate regions.

DMD represents only companies that are considered industry leaders in their respective product categories: Certainteed®, Simonton and Traco using vinyl; Pella Impervia™ using fiberglass; Andersen® and Pella using clad wood products.

What about warranty? |
|
All companies have outstanding warranties. Certainteed® has a non-prorated lifetime warranty on all parts and labor (including glass); Andersen® and Pella® have a 10 year warranty on parts and 20 years on most glass. Note each warranty has certain limitations. Pella's Impervia fiberglass window frames have a lifetime warranty.
